Professor in Modern European History
Graduate of the Department of History and Archaeology National and Kapodistrian the University of Athens and PhD from the University of Vienna (Institute of Social and Economic History) with distinction. His research interests, publications (in Greek, German, English and French) and teaching focus on the history of Europe (with emphasis on Central Europe and the German-speaking world) in the 19th and the first decades of the 20th century. More specifically they focus on the history of the middle classes, the nobility and elites, gender history, the theory and history of historiography, the history of nationalism, the First World War and the Habsburg monarchy. Reviews on his work have been published in international journals, such as the Austrian History Yearbook, Bohemia and Historein. He has taught and lectured as a guest lecturer at universities in Austria, Germany, Slovenia and the USA.
