Vangelis Karamanolakis is Associate Professor of Theory and History of Historiography and President of the Management Committee of the historical Archive of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Contemporary Social History Archives (ASKI). His studies regards the history of historiography, the theory of history and the history of higher education. He has edited volumes regarding the seven-year dictatorship (1967-1974), the historical pathways of the Greek youth in the 20th century, the relations of Greek and French historiography, the 1940s decade, the short MERtapolitefsi (regime change,1974-1975), the conceptualisation of collective identifications: Hellene (Έλλην)-Romios (Ρωμιός)-Greek or Graikos - Γραικός et al.).
