Vaso Seirinidou is Associate Professor of early Modern Greek history at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Athens. She has also taught at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete and at the Institute of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies of the University of Vienna.
Her field of expertise is Greek society and economy in the 18th and early 19th centuries. She has worked extensively on the history of the Greek diaspora in Central Europe, the intellectual and cultural manifestations of the Modern Greek Enlightenment movement, as well as on the environmental history of the early modern Greek world. Currently, her research interest focuses on the history of the Greek Revolution, with emphasis on the relationship between society and institutions.
She is a member of several international scientific societies in the field of history and for years she has been the Greek representative on the regional board of the European Society of Environmental History.
She has participated as a member of a research team and as a principal investigator in national and international research projects.
She has published two monographs (and a third in press), edited four collective volumes and authored numerous articles in Greek, English and German.
